Wednesday, May 3th: Welcome to the Bluegrass! Arrive and settle in to your newly renovated rooms at the Lexington Campbell House Hotel, an antebellum style hotel decorated in true Kentucky fashion.
Thursday, May 4th: Savor the incredible beauty of Lexington, Kentucky! Up early to start the day with a visit to Three Chimneys for their annual Derby Open House and a behind-the-gates tour at Lane’s End Farm. Our certified guides will share local history, lore and legends as you travel through the rolling hills of the Bluegrass countryside; ending the day with a drive through historic downtown Lexington. A little time back at the hotel to enjoy the hotel’s amenities before the evening activities begin. Join the Blue Grass Tours Welcome Reception and a delicious dinner at a renowned local restaurant.
Friday, May 5th: Indulge your senses! Today you will enjoy our popular Horses, Hooch & History Tour where you come in contact with the leaders in the equine industry as you enter the gates of a one of our signature Thoroughbred horse farms. Enjoy stories from our well-versed guides chronicling the history of Central Kentucky and see the incredible beauty of the Bluegrass as your travel farm lined roads from beginning to end. Explore the history and traditions, and sample “America’s Official Native Spirit” with a tour at Buffalo Trace Distillery, where you’ll experience the art of bourbon-making and learn why Kentucky’s unique mix of weather and pure limestone water produces the mellow, savory flavors and the deep amber color that is unique to Kentucky bourbon. You will savor a delicious Kentucky Proud lunch at the historic Glen Willis House.
Friday, May 5th: The Fillies for the Lilies! Begin the Kentucky Derby Pageantry by immersing yourself in horse racing at its best. Pink is the color of the day as the fillies compete in the Kentucky Oaks. The first running of the Kentucky Oaks was on May 19, 1875 when Churchill Downs was known as the Louisville Jockey Club. The Kentucky Derby and Oaks, founded by Meriwether Lewis Clark, Jr., are the oldest continuously contested sporting events in history, and the only horse races to be held at their original site since its conception. Your package includes a souvenir program, racing form. A box lunch and refreshments are also included.
Saturday, May 6th: Wake up and smell the roses! And we’re off to the 143rd Running of the Kentucky Derby! The pomp and circumstance will be in full swing, fancy dress, over the top hats, and as always, a stirring rendition of My Old Kentucky Home. Surround yourself with all the fun and excitement of the 143rd Run for the Roses at the 2017 Kentucky Derby. Enjoy comfortable, round-trip transportation on a Blue Grass Tours deluxe motor coach to Churchill Downs. We return to our hotel after the last race. Your package includes a souvenir program, racing form and box lunch. Refreshments on the coach are also included.
