MORNING DAILY BLUEGRASS TOUR DURING WEG 9/27 & 10/8

Blue Grass Tours will be offering some special stops on our daily tours during WEG. Today we will have a wonderful 3 hour tour of the area that includes a visit to Valkyre Stud. Located in the rolling hills of central Kentucky just east of Georgetown, KY, Valkyre Stud’s philosophy has always been to concentrate on quality instead of quantity. Come see their Thoroughbred nursery, home to broodmares, weanlings, and yearlings. Next we will visit Old Friends Farm a rescue and retirement farm for Thoroughbreds specializing in retired Stallions. Old Friends provides these wonderful champions with the dignified retirement they deserve including Seabiscuit star Popcorn Deelites. Along the way we will enjoy seeing more farms and historic places in Lexington, Kentucky and hearing professional narration from our professional guides.

BOURBON & BLUEGRASS WITH THREE CHIMNEYS

Experience the sights, smells, and tastes of central Kentucky as we take you through the rolling countryside to tour two signature Thoroughbred horse farms for which Lexington is known as the Horse Capital of the World. First, tour world-famous Three Chimneys and their stallion division. Next take a tour at Four Roses Distillery, nestled in the Kentucky countryside on the banks of the Salt River and enjoy a complimentary tasting of this mellow bourbon. We will enjoy a delicious lunch of local fare in a scenic atmosphere and then complete your journey with a tour of a renowned Thoroughbred farm and see some of their talented stallions and their outstanding broodmares.

Fill your day with magnificent Thoroughbreds and three stunning farms! First, tour Lane’s End, owned by Mr. and Mrs. William S. Farish. The leading stud farm in North America ten times, Lane’s End is home to such top sires as A.P. INDY and SMART STRIKE as well as two-time Horse of the Year CURLIN. Enjoy time on your own for lunch and unique shopping in historic Midway, Kentucky. After lunch, tour a well-known Thoroughbred farm, home of several Classics winners. Enjoy a tour of their stallion barn and see these champions up close. To complete our tour we will visit the white-fenced rolling pastures of Darby Dan Farm. For a century, Darby Dan Farm has blended great horses and colorful characters into lasting legends of the Bluegrass!

THREE CHIMNEYS STALLION TOUR DURING WEG & IEF

Enjoy a comfortable ride on a deluxe coach to tour world-famous Three Chimneys Farm’s stallion complex. Professional guided narration of the Bluegrass and the Thoroughbred industry will be given to and from the farm. Take a walking tour at Three Chimneys and see the statue in honor of Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew who stood at stud at the farm for many years. Visit the breeding shed and learn about the breeding process. Tour the stallion barns and see these amazing champions up close. Complete your experience with a stop at the Three Chimneys Visitor Center. Come enjoy a beautiful Thoroughbred farm that has been home to famous stallions such as Smarty Jones, Point Given, and Dynaformer. BOYD’S & YEARLINGS

Lexington is known for its beautiful farms from horses to agriculture - the whole family can come experience both on this special tour! First tour the Big Sink Yearling Division at world-famous Three Chimneys Farm. See their state-of-the-art yearling sales preparation facility which includes several styles of barns, rolling pastures, electric walkers, and walking rings designed based on the public sales grounds at Keeneland and Fasig-Tipton. Guests will learn about the various techniques used to prepare yearlings for public auctions from conditioning to grooming to training. Next we will visit Boyd Orchards, an agritainment farm owned by a family of 5th generation fruit growers. Enjoy a hayride and their homemade cider and doughnuts. The children can play on their large, unique playground and the whole family can browse the fresh produce and gifts available in their gift shop.

AFTERNOON DAILY TOUR DURING WEG WITH ROOD & RIDDLE

Blue Grass Tours will be offering some special stops on our daily tours during WEG. On our Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoon tours we will head to Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital to tour their state-of-the-art facility. Rood & Riddle is a full-service equine hospital known and respected throughout the world for innovative and highly skilled treatment of horses and offers a full range of services including surgery, internal medicine, advanced diagnostic imaging, a focused Podiatry Center and specialized Reproductive Center. The practice also provides ambulatory services for emergencies, preventative care, general reproduction, radiography, and medical care and treatment at the horse’s barn or stable. After touring this wonderful equine hospital, we will visit a signature Thoroughbred farm for a private tour to see these beautiful horses!

WINE & BLUEGRASS UNDER THE STARS
4:30 PM - 10:30 PM
$125 per person (tour includes dinner)
Enjoy a full evening of breathtaking scenery, fine wine, great food and energized regional entertainment - Kentucky style! Blue Grass Tours will comfortably take you to award-winning Acres of Land Winery in Richmond, Kentucky for an evening you won’t forget. Enjoy a tasting of 5 Acres of Land wines from 5 - 7 pm. A bar will be available during the evening for wine and beer purchases. A delicious buffet of Southern cuisine from 6 - 7:30 pm will include Fried Chicken, Pot Roast, Green Beans, Glazed Carrots, Scalloped Potatoes, Pasta Salad, and Fruit Cobbler. Complete the evening with a Kentucky Musical Heritage Show starting at 7:30 pm. Screens will provide a visual depiction of the history of Kentucky music while over 50 performers entertain including Appalachian, Bluegrass, Traditional Country, and Celtic music and Square Dancers and Cloggers!
