Blue Grass Tours will be offering special itineraries on our daily tours during WEG. On our Tuesday and Thursday morning tours we will have a wonderful 3 hour tour of the area that includes a stop at historic Keeneland Race Course for a behind-the-scenes tour of this site on the National Historic Register. Come see this grand race course that has been filmed for both ‘Seabiscuit’ and the upcoming movie about Seattle Slew. We will also visit Richland Hills Farm, located along scenic Old Frankfort Pike in the heart of bluegrass horse country. Enjoy a private tour of their stallion barn and see the mares, weanlings, and yearlings in their paddocks. Along the way we will see many other signature farms and historic places in Lexington, Kentucky and hear entertaining narration from our professional guides.

HORSES, HOOCH & HISTORY WITH THREE CHIMNEYS FARM

Experience the magnificent history of two of Kentucky’s signature industries during this popular tour. First, tour world-famous Three Chimneys Farm and their stallion division that has been home to famous stallions such as Smarty Jones, Point Given, Dynaformer and was the longtime home of Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew. Next observe the craft of creating fine bourbon at Buffalo Trace Distillery - much as it was 200 - years ago and taste the results! Enjoy a delicious lunch of local fare in a scenic location and finish your journey with a behind-the-scenes tour at Keeneland Race Course, a National Historic Landmark.

THREE CHIMNEYS FARM DRIVING TOUR

For a short but lovely tour, book our one hour Three Chimneys Farm Driving Tour. Offered four times a day, Monday through Friday during WEG, this tour will take you to the historic Old Bradley Place division of Three Chimneys Farm. This tour will give you sneak peek into one of the farm’s larger divisions. Originally known as Highland Stock Farm, Old Bradley Place is currently home to roughly 150 broodmares and their foals. As the coach drives through the winding roads and rolling hills of the Old Bradley place division, guests will see the remnants of the old racetrack (the quarter mile poles and clockers’ stands are still maintained), one of the former King Ranch broodmare cemeteries, and the farm’s current inhabitants with their newest offspring.

THREE CHIMNEYS STALLION TOUR DURING WEG & IEF

Enjoy a comfortable ride on a deluxe coach to tour world-famous Three Chimneys Farm’s stallion complex. Professional guided narration of the Bluegrass and the Thoroughbred industry will be given to and from the farm. Take a walking tour at Three Chimneys and see the statue in honor of Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew who stood at stud at the farm for many years. Visit the breeding shed and learn about the breeding process. Tour the stallion barns and see these amazing champions up close. Complete your experience with a stop at the Three Chimneys Visitor Center. Blue Grass Tours will be offering some special stops on our daily tours during WEG. On our Tuesday and Thursday afternoon tours we will have a wonderful 3 hour tour of the area that includes a visit to Valkyre Stud. Located in the rolling hills of central Kentucky just east of Georgetown, KY, Valkyre Stud’s philosophy has always been to concentrate on quality instead of quantity. Come see their Thoroughbred nursery, home to broodmares, weanlings, and yearlings. Next we will visit Old Friends Farm a rescue and retirement farm for Thoroughbreds specializing in retired Stallions. Old Friends provides these wonderful champions with the dignified retirement they deserve including Seabiscuit star Popcorn Deelites. Along the way we will enjoy seeing more farms and historic places in Lexington, Kentucky and hearing professional narration from our professional guides.

WINE & BLUEGRASS UNDER THE STARS
4:30 PM - 10:30 PM
$125 per person (tour includes dinner)

Enjoy a full evening of breathtaking scenery, fine wine, great food and energized regional entertainment - Kentucky style! Blue Grass Tours will comfortably take you to award-winning Acres of Land Winery in Richmond, Kentucky for an evening you won’t forget. Enjoy a tasting of 5 Acres of Land wines from 5 - 7 pm. A bar will be available during the evening for wine and beer purchases. A delicious buffet of Southern cuisine from 6 - 7:30 pm will include Fried Chicken, Pot Roast, Green Beans, Glazed Carrots, Scalloped Potatoes, Pasta Salad, and Fruit Cobbler. Complete the evening with a Kentucky Musical Heritage Show starting at 7:30 pm. Screens will provide a visual depiction of the history of Kentucky music while over 50 performers entertain including Appalachian, Bluegrass, Traditional Country, and Celtic music and Square Dancers and Cloggers!
