Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games
The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games will be held September 25 - October 10, 2010 at the Kentucky Horse Park. Located just off interstate highway I-75, the Kentucky Horse Park is situated just north of Lexington, Kentucky. This will be the first time the games will leave Europe and be held in the United States. The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in 2010 includes the following seven disciplines: Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Driving, Endurance, Vaulting, Reining, and Para Dressage.
THE KENTUCKY EXPERIENCE
Blue Grass Tours will be providing a series of tours before, during, and after the games allowing guests the chance to experience all of the unique attractions, shopping, dining, and music throughout the beautiful Kentucky Commonwealth. A sample of the trips we are planning are listed below. All day trips and overnight trips will be provided on a deluxe coach with TV/DVD, air conditioning, and a restroom. CAVES & CORVETTES

Explore the world’s longest known cave system, Mammoth Cave, on a guided tour. With over 367 miles of explored underground passageways this is an experience that should not be missed! Enjoy a delicious southern-style lunch and then visit the National Corvette Museum, home to America’s Sports Car.
SCENERY & SEAFOOD

Glide over stream and forest on a round-trip chairlift to Natural Bridge and enjoy a leisurely exploration of the trails. Then head to historic Hall’s On The River for lunch. Known for its scenic view of the Kentucky River and fabulous food, Hall’s is a good time on the river. Stand in the middle of history at Fort Boonesborough, a “living museum,” with cabins to explore and characters to meet, including Daniel Boone! This tour is offered on the weekends only.
THE COLONEL & CUMBERLAND FALLS

Experience Kentucky crafts and hospitality at the Kentucky Artisan Center in Berea where local artists have their work on display and available to purchase. Enjoy lunch at the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken, where the Colonel began a franchise that is now a global sensation! Finally, spend the afternoon at Cumberland Falls hiking the trails, horseback riding and marveling at one of Kentucky’s most beautiful natural wonders. Horseback riding is a guided trail ride easy enough for the first-time and adventurous enough for the more experienced. Riding is for ages 6 and up.
LOUISVILLE LEGACIES

Visit the Kentucky Derby Museum for a first-hand look at the “Run for the Roses.” Exhibits take you on the journey from the birth of a foal to the Winner’s Circle. Your visit includes a Historic Walking tour of Churchill Downs. Take in the skyline and enjoy lunch cruising the Ohio River on the Belle of Louisville, the oldest Mississippi River-style steamboat still in operation in the USA. Tour the Slugger Museum & Factory, in business since 1884, and where they craft the Official Bat of Major League Baseball!
ALL ABOARD!

Visit the house and grounds of the 1852 antebellum mansion in which Stephen Foster wrote the endearing, “My Old Kentucky Home.” Lunch in vintage 1940’s dining cars aboard RJ Corman’s Dinner Train while rolling through the lovely Kentucky countryside. Stroll along Third Street in the heart of Bardstown and shop for antiques, locally made skincare products, jewelry, children’s gifts and clothing, Kentucky artwork, and much more!

Check out the undersea kingdom in Northern Kentucky at the Newport Aquarium! With over 70 exhibits, 14 galleries, and 5 seamless acrylic tunnels – you’ll be surrounded by aquatic life from around the world. Enjoy lunch on your own and shopping at Newport Levee, overlooking the Ohio River. Visit the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption which is one of only 35 minor basilicas in the United States. Built in the gothic style with 26 gargoyles carved in Italy, it is an art and architectural monument to be treasured.

Visit the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area and drive through the Elk & Bison Prairie, explore the universe at Golden Pond Planetarium, and encounter the natural world at Woodlands Nature Station. At Patti’s 1800’s Settlement enjoy fantastic food and unique shopping. Spend the night at lovely Lake Barkley State Resort Park, and wake to their home-cooked breakfast buffet. On the second day, take a guided tour of Amish farms and their way of life in Crittendon County, Kentucky.
